1:1 Vocal Coaching with Kate Wand

You’ve been putting in the work. Something’s still not clicking.

You’re not a lazy singer. You practice. You watch the videos. But when you’re actually performing — the tension is still there, the break still happens, the confidence still isn’t there.

That’s not a discipline problem. It’s a guidance problem. Private coaching with Kate gives you what no video or app can: a classically-trained ear on your voice every week, a clear plan built around exactly what you need, and someone who actually listens.

Why you’re stuck

You can’t fix what you can’t precisely identify.

Generic vocal advice is everywhere. And most of it is technically correct — for someone. But not for your specific coordination patterns, your particular tension habits, the register break that only shows up in your second passaggio. You’ve been applying general principles to a specific problem. That gap is why you’re plateauing.

What’s working against you isn’t your voice — it’s the absence of accurate feedback. You practice what feels right, but feeling right and being right are not the same thing. Without a trained ear to tell the difference, effort compounds the pattern instead of breaking it. You get more efficient at the wrong coordination. The breakthrough keeps not coming.

The external problem

Your voice breaks. Notes vanish. Tension builds exactly when you need to sound your best. You know something is wrong but you can’t name it precisely enough to fix it.

The internal problem

You feel embarrassed. You wonder if you’re fundamentally not a real singer. You practice more because you don’t know what else to do — but the self-doubt grows alongside the effort.

The deeper truth

You’ve been putting in the work. You deserve someone who can actually hear what’s holding you back — and give you a real path forward, not another generic tip.

A simple plan

Three steps from where you are to the voice you’ve been working toward.

01

You apply & Kate listens

Tell Kate about your voice, your goals, and what you’ve been struggling with. She reviews every application personally — not to screen you out, but to understand exactly where you are and how to build your program from day one.

02

Your weekly diagnosis & direction

Each session via FarPlay gives Kate a live picture of your voice — tone, resonance, breath, the subtle coordination patterns underneath the symptoms. She prepares using your recordings beforehand. You never walk in to a generic lesson.

03

You keep moving between sessions

The work doesn’t stop when the call ends. Detailed notes, custom exercises for your voice, and your own private channel with Kate. Send recordings. Ask questions. Share breakthroughs. Your development has no pause button.

Minimum commitment: 3 months. Real technique changes take time — typically 8–12 weeks before the coordination shifts become automatic. This program is for singers who want lasting transformation, not a quick tip.

What you get

Everything you need to make real, lasting progress.

Most online vocal lessons end when the call does. Not this one. You get Kate preparing before your sessions, following up after, and in your corner all week between them. The guide stays with you — not just for the hour you booked.

Everything inside your coaching relationship
  • 4 live private sessions per month (60 min each) Weekly sessions via FarPlay — ultra-low-latency audio that lets Kate hear your actual tone, resonance, and breath in real time. Not a compressed Zoom call. The closest thing to being in the same room as a world-class coach.
  • Kate prepares for every single session You send recordings before each lesson. Kate listens, identifies exactly what needs work, and builds the session around your voice that week. You never walk into a generic lesson. Every minute is about you.
  • Detailed lesson notes & full session recording After every session you receive Kate’s written notes — what you worked on, what to focus on in practice, specific guidance to carry you through the week. Plus the full recording so you can revisit everything.
  • Custom exercises recorded for your voice Warm-ups and technical drills built around the exact coordination issues Kate identifies in your voice — not generic exercises repurposed from a library, but targeted work that addresses your specific patterns.
  • Repertoire coaching on the music you’re actually singing You don’t practice technique in a vacuum. Kate applies everything — breath, resonance, registration, expression — directly to your real songs, so technique becomes music, not just exercises.
  • Your own private channel — Kate answers Between sessions: send recordings, ask questions, share breakthroughs. Kate responds with real feedback, voice notes, and guidance. Your progress doesn’t pause just because you’re not on a call. This is what makes it a relationship, not just a booking.
  • Kate’s private coaching community & first access Join the Coaching Studio — serious singers actively working on their craft, with Kate in the room. Coaching students get first access to new exercises, videos, and exclusive content before anyone else sees it.
  • A structured long-term development plan that evolves with you Kate builds your program around where you are and where you’re going — with clear milestones, progress tracking over months, and a plan that adjusts as your voice changes. You always know what you’re working toward and why.

If you know something needs to change but weekly commitment feels like a big step, start with a Pro Voice Analysis. Kate listens to your recording and delivers a detailed video: exactly what she hears, what’s holding you back, and your clearest path forward. Many 1:1 coaching students started there — and applied once they understood what was possible.

What happens without expert guidance

Without a trained ear on your voice, the plateau becomes the ceiling.

Singers who keep practicing without expert guidance don’t stay stuck — they get more stuck. You practice the wrong thing more efficiently. You reinforce the tension pattern instead of releasing it. Months pass and the voice sounds almost the same, because you’ve been solving the surface problem instead of the root one.

The performance you’re preparing for. The recording you keep putting off. The freedom in your voice you know is there but can’t reach. Those stay just out of reach — not because you’re not talented enough, but because you’ve never had someone who could hear what you’re actually doing and tell you the truth.

Singers who stopped guessing — and heard the difference

I found this very good and enjoyed your teaching style — using the visual aids was great. With your lesson at the end I did not get the tight vocal fatigue that I often do. I will try to take time to do more of your videos. Thank you for sharing your expertise Kate!

I really appreciate your gentleness and how you go for the natural voice. I watched 3 times. Your relaxed voice is contagious! Thank you.

You express what I believe. As a listener at live events, I really gravitate to singers who surrender to the kind of interchange that you describe. Authenticity triumphs over mastery. Keep up the good work.

Investment

This is what it costs to stop guessing and start knowing.

This is not paying for an hour a week. It’s the cost of finally having someone who knows your voice — live sessions, lesson prep, ongoing support, notes, recordings, exercises, and a community of serious singers. Kate works with a limited number of students to give each one the attention that actually produces results.

Who this is for

If you’ve outgrown generic advice — if you know your voice has more in it and you’re ready to do the work to find it — this is built for you. Spots are limited and reserved for singers who will show up consistently and put in the practice between sessions. Commitment is the only prerequisite. Level is not.

I work with singers across levels — from self-taught beginners to conservatory-trained vocalists. What matters more than your current level is your commitment to consistent work. If you are willing to show up every week and put in the practice, we can make progress together. The application helps me understand where you are and whether 1:1 coaching is the right fit.
FarPlay is ultra-low-latency audio software designed for live music collaboration over the internet. Unlike Zoom or Skype, it lets me hear your voice in near-real-time with full tonal clarity. This means I can work on tone, resonance, and subtle technical adjustments the way I would in person. It is the closest thing to being in the same room. You will need a microphone, headphones, and an audio interface. If you do not have gear yet, I can advise you on what to get.
You will need a microphone, headphones, and an audio interface for the best experience with FarPlay. If you do not have this setup yet, that is fine — you can indicate this on the application and I will guide you on affordable, effective options before we start. The gear does not need to be expensive. A basic USB interface and a decent mic work great.
Real vocal development takes time. Technique changes do not happen in one or two sessions — they require consistent, structured work over weeks and months. The 3-month minimum ensures we have enough time to build a solid foundation, track progress, and make meaningful changes. This is not a quick fix. It is an ongoing program for singers who are serious about their development.
Yes. You will need a quiet space where you can sing freely without worrying about disturbing others or being interrupted. This does not need to be a professional studio — a bedroom, home office, or any private space with reasonable quiet works perfectly. If you are unsure about your space, mention it in the application and we can discuss.
The Pro Voice Analysis is asynchronous and self-paced — you submit a recording and I send back a detailed video analysis. It is great for a snapshot of where your voice stands. 1:1 coaching is live, structured, and ongoing with weekly sessions, real-time feedback, and a long-term development plan. Many singers start with a Voice Analysis and then move to 1:1 coaching when they are ready for deeper work.Learn more about the Pro Voice Analysis
I review every application personally. If we are a good fit, you will receive an email with next steps for scheduling and enrollment — including setting up FarPlay, choosing a weekly time slot, and any gear recommendations. If 1:1 coaching is not the right fit right now, I will let you know and may suggest an alternative like the Pro Voice Analysis.I respond to applications within a few business days.

Your voice already has what it takes. You just need someone to help you hear it.

Imagine knowing exactly what to work on every week. Hearing your voice change. Performing and recording with the kind of confidence that comes from understanding your own instrument — not hoping for the best. That’s what a real coaching relationship gives you. Kate is ready to listen. The question is whether you’re ready to stop guessing.
