ABOUT ME
I started my coaching method with this goal in mind: to help people find their authentic voice, and sing with complete freedom and joy— something that took me decades to find.
I studied music from four years old, training with a handful of teachers in pop, and then turned my gaze to classical.
I completed the Royal Conservatory Exams with flying colours, participated in festivals and performances, and then prepared to study Classical Voice in Marianopolis College.
But I was not prepared for what was about to happen…
It all began with my new vocal coach, a Phd in voice at mcgill university.
She told me that I wasn’t singing in a sustainable way, and would need to deconstruct and reconstruct my voice if I wanted it to work for me in the long run.
I was devastated. It was a long, difficult, and painful journey. I dealt with imposter syndrome, performance anxiety, and vocal issues. My self-esteem, which was intimately connected to my high achiever singer identity, was wrecked. It was so bad that I didn’t know if I was meant to be singing anymore, even though I was born with a musical gift. The self-doubt was visceral. But I had no choice but to go through the process, and eventually, come out on the other side.
““When a flower blooms, it simultaneously falls apart.”
I enrolled in University to study Opera, but I was still feeling fragile and disconnected from my authentic voice.
After a full semester, I decided it was time to call it quits— not on music, but on this idea of becoming an Opera singer.
Being a singer had always been my dream, but I already was a singer.
Now, I needed to embark on a quest to remember that I still was one, and at my core, would always be.
From there, I fostered a deep love for singing and teaching, and for developing my own voice as an artist.
This is my promise to you: I can help you reclaim your authentic voice that was there all along.
So I said goodbye to musical academia. I joined a band, I wrote and recorded songs, I travelled the world with a ukulele as my carry on.
I played formal gigs in a band, solo in hotel lobby pianos, in my friend’s living room jams, at open mics, weddings, and alone in my bedroom. Somewhere in the pain and loss, the seed that had been planted by my former teacher had started the grow. The fundamentals to singing well and overcoming bad technique became imbibed in my voice, as I detached from perfectionism and embraced music as an art.
I started songwriting and covering music in my own unique way, and slowly found the joy in music that had been there since I was a little girl, yearning to sing to the world.
I understood now, that finding your authentic voice is not about understanding everything, but about subtracting what is blocking you: emotionally, psychologically, and physically.
From this tribulation emerged a model for singing that I wanted to share with others on their musical journey. And so, I started to teach.
I taught children who had never touched a piano. Adults who wanted to learn from scratch. Adolescents who wanted to sound like Billy Eilish.
But the students who were most attracted to my method were those who struggled with their voices, and needed a guiding light.
I’d love to help you find your true musical path. See how you can work with me to discover how to master the fundamentals in a sustainable way for your voice, and then to sing authentically, with artistry and passion.
